Mmm… fruit. Scents, tastes, colours, textures. This time of the year, late summer, warm and ripe.
There is a high arbour over a large part of the courtyard in which I used to spend my time when I was a kid. A grapevine climbs it. The grapevine is called Izabela. It is not widely appreciated grapevine variety, it is rather considered to be a kind of domestic wild type.
Well, I like both domestic and wild, and Izabela is a majestic wild girl. The berries are dark blue-violet, grand leaves rustle a song, and the scent… the scent has to be experienced. It is so intensive that I can feel it while bunches of grapes are still high on the arbour. And when they reach my hand, and when I bite through the strong skin of a berry, rich aroma flows to my mouth and my nose. And for a moment, I get lost.
Vine tote is made from linen artist’s canvas, strengthened for firmness and shape. The bag is 35 cm high and 50 cm wide. The bottom of the bag is 40 cm long, 12 cm wide and it has been strengthened so the bag would not sag, regardless of how many necessary items the bag holds. Grapes and leaves appliqué is made from blue cotton fabric and green vine stems are hand embroidered. Tote lining is blue cotton and it has three pockets, one of them with a zipper closure, and a ribbon with a swivel clip.
